Webinar: Introduction to EPA's SBIR Program
Description:
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program provides critical, early-stage research and development funding in the form of contracts for a range of environmental technologies with strong commercial potential. The EPA's SBIR broad topics for 2013 included Water, Innovation in Manufacturing, Waste, Air Quality, and Homeland Security. The next EPA SBIR solicitation is scheduled to open in March of 2014.
This webinar will address key content to include in SBIR proposal applications including the importance of including strong letters of endorsement. Also to be discussed is the review process used by the EPA. The webinar will address common issues that present challenges for new SBIR applicants and offer guidance regarding how to plan ahead in order to ensure successful completion of major steps within the application process.
The webinar will be led by April Richards, EPA SBIR Program Manager. Also participating in the webinar will be Dr. Tito Viswanathan of Synanomet, LLC, an Arkansas-based company that has successfully won both Phase I and II EPA SBIR awards in 2012 and 2013. Dr. Viswanathan will share his personal experiences and challenges associated with forming a project team, coordinating with the university to license his technology, and developing strong proposals that included letters of customer engagement.
Following a 1-hour presentation, April Richards and Dr. Viswanathan will engage webinar participants in a 30 minute question and answer session.
