Just in time for the November 20, 2013 release of SBIR topics for the 2014.1 solicitation, Susan Nichols, SBIR/STTR Program Director for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency will discuss how to do business with DARPA. Learn how DARPA generates SBIR/STTR topics, how to find a DARPA SBIR program manager, tips for proposal preparation, evaluation criteria and more. Susan will also discuss barriers to contract award and questions from the audience.
Speaker: Susan Nichols, SBIR/STTR Program Director for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA)
Speaker Information: Ms. Nichols started her 25-year career with the Department of Defense at the US Army Corps of Engineers where she held a variety of positions in budget, program analysis and program management from 1988 until 2004. She served as the US Army SBIR Program Manager at the US Army Materiel Command from 2004-2008, where she developed and successfully implemented several program and system modernization initiatives. She is currently serving as Program Director, DARPA Small Business Programs Office, SBIR/STTR Program Manager. Her activities are focused on managing programs that provide small, high-tech businesses and academic institutions the opportunity to propose radical, innovative, high-risk approaches to address existing and emerging national security threats; thereby supporting DARPA’s unique mission to create and prevent strategic surprise for our adversaries. Ms. Nichols has a Bachelor of Science degree in Management/Computer Information Systems from Park University.
