10-11:30 a.m. CSTDescription: The National Science Foundation (NSF) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs provide critical, early-stage research and development funding in the form of grants for a wide range of innovations that have a strong commercial potential. Each year, the NSF seeks SBIR and STTR applications that address research topics ranging from engineering to education. This webinar will address key content to include in SBIR/STTR proposal applications, including the commercialization plan. Also to be discussed is the review process used by NSF reviewers and the necessary steps for successful registration and submission through the NSF FastLane system. The webinar will address common issues that present challenges for new SBIR/STTR applicants and offer guidance regarding how to plan ahead in order to ensure successful completion of major steps within the application process. The webinar will be led by Dr. Ruth Shuman, NSF SBIR/STTR Program Director, Division of Industrial Innovation and Partnerships (IIP). Following her presentation, Dr. Shuman will engage with webinar participants in a 30 minute question and answer session.
