Abstract:
Not Available The goal of the proposed -research is to assess the feasibility of adapting an existing web-based project management tool to facilitate accurate, timely communications among multiple agencies responsible for providing career planning and preparation services to students with disabilities. This includes examining the possibility of creating an integrated reference model that at a high level marches possible service providers to a student with a disability; and matches vocational opportunities to the student's vocational aptitudes and preferences. If this were feasible, then it would be possible to very efficiently create a computer-based checklist of concrete actions and time-bound assignments to facilitate optimal and efficient career planning and preparation. Two secondary components of this research project are: _ Survey a small sample of community service providers to determine their technical capabilities for accessing a web-based project management system. _ Creating a "map," at a high level, of a representative career planning and preparation service delivery process. This could be a map of the process followed by students with disabilities who are provided services by community service providers such as the Department of Children and Family Services, or the Bureau of Rehabilitation Services.
