Abstract

The most difficult part of the end-fire CLAS assembly is the installation of short circuits to connect the various circuitry layers. If shorts with certain features can be pre-fabricated prior to final assembly of the skin, the skin fabrication will be made much easier, and hence less costly. One way to pre-fabricate the shorts is to weave two different fibers-astroquartz and graphite-into a 3-D preform with all the features
