Reflective Near Infrared Glucose Analyzer
1 R43 DK48586-1,
A program for the research/development of a reflective, near infrared glucose analyzer isproposed. The design approach allows for an optical computing approach to signal processing andpattern recognition that has the potential for a compact, low-cost instrument for diabetic hometesting. The basic feasibility of reflective, near infrared measurement of blood glucose has beenexperimentally demonstrated in previous research. The research will extend and specialize previous nearinfrared measurements using a proprietary analytical method that will be implemented as a custom-desig-ned analog optical processing element.
