Enabling Internet Communications using Miniscule by Intelligent Link Sensing TCP/IP

Broadata Communications, Inc. (BCI) proposes an innovative, dramatically enhanced TCP/IP solution (Miniscule by Intelligent Link Sensing, or MILS, TCP/IP technology) that can directly meet the Navy's FORCENet/SHARP requirements and is ultra-lightweight for being embedded in resource-constraint SHARP, while effectively addressing TCP/IP performance issues in wireless and mobile networks. The proposed technology is based on a tiny embeddable TCP/IP stack with a unique real-time available bandwidth network measurement technique. The network measurement technique is shown in our Phase I work as highly effective and efficient in FORCENet/SHARP, because it not only deals with the wireless/mobility aspect of the TCP/IP networking problem, but at the same time, holds the potential to significantly simplify TCP/IP operational requirements. MILS-TCP can be embedded on platforms independently of other communication protocol stacks, as well as physical and link layer technologies used. BCI's overall goal is to address the Navy's applications in SHARP/FORCENet integration through Internet protocol communication by developing and demonstrating the feasibility and potential of the proposed technology.
