Abstract:
Not Available In this Small Business Innovation Research Phase I program, ImagingTech, Inc. will design a high-resolution x-ray CT system for Army Research Laboratory. This system will use state-of-the-art x-ray detection technologies and innovative system design concepts to achieve a superior performance that is unattainable using conventional technologies. The superior performance includes 1) a high image spatial resolution (0.1 mm or less) to inspect fine structures, a high penetrating power (300-450 keV x-ray beams) and a relatively large (3 inches or larger) field-of-view to image large objects. In Phase I, he proposed CT detector and system designs are investigated systematically. The detector and system performance is evaluated experimentally. By projecting from the preliminary experimental results as well as by analysis and computer modeling, the feasibility of the proposed designs will be demonstrated in Phase I. BENEFITS: The high-resolution CT is an important technique for non-destructive evaluation in industry, scientific research, and medicine. The high resolution CT application developments are crucial to scientific and engineering research as well as to our industrial competitiveness.
