Human Operator Model Baseline Architecture Simulation (HOMBAS)

CHI Systems proposes to develop a Human Operator Model Baseline Architecture Simulation (HOMBAS) based on our existing Human Operator Model Management Environment (HOMME) model and architecture. HOMBAS will be designed primarily for integration into simulations of complete systems, to permit human contributions to total system performance to be appropriately reflected in simulation-based evaluations of any system component. HOMBAS will employ many key design features of HOMME in a new software implementation, but with three major revisions: 1) extended and improved user interface, 2) incorporation of models for time-extensive skilled performance, and 3) capability for linkage with other simulation software. A ke focus of our HOMBAS design is a powerful facility for constructing task descriptions of required human operator functions, and automatically interpreting them, along with an application-specific knowledge base, into applications of human performance micro-models from a HOMBAS resident library. The principal outputs of HOMBAS will be a timeline of human performance events that will be merged with other simulation events generated by the host simulation in which HOMBAS is embedded. HOMBAS will be designed for implementation in the CLIPS 5.0 environment on a 486-class PC.
