Title: Development of Integrated Tactical Decision Aid for Battle Management
Agency / Branch: DOD / ARMY
Contract: N/A
Award Amount: $599,958.00

AirLand Battle and AirLand Operations doctrines require quick, accurate decision-making in order to achieve the synchronicity and agility needed to execute the doctrine. Current decision makin aids at the tactical level are almost exclusively manual and failr to adequately integrate all combat power multipliers, such as artillery, intelligence, logistics, etc., into single integrated decision aids that can accommodate real time information. CHI Systems proposes to adapt and integrate the Intelligence Preparation of the Battlefield (TPB), tactical planning and orders, and tactical situation assessment processes into a single intelligent tool to be known as Automated Intelligence Preparation of the Battlefield (AIPB). AIPB will be able to fuse available tactical information to develop an initial decision supoprt matrix in support of a tactical plan, and then cyclically update the matrix with information from Army data systems such as the Maneuver Control System and Advanced Field ARtillery Tactical Data System. This tool will provide real-time tactical decision support for Battlefield Commanders and Operations staff thorugh the use of a flexible, cognitively engineered interface and advanced expert system technologies. The final result of Phase I will be the design of an integrated "living" decision support system that will assist both tactical planning and execution.
