Title:
Multi-Continuum Theory for Linerless Composite Tank Design
Agency / Branch:
DOD / MDA
Contract:
W9113M-05-C-0151
Award Amount:
$749,916.00
Abstract:
The proposed Phase II program will continue to develop and refine the Multicontinuum Theory (MCT)-based analytical approach for predicting progressive microcracking damage and permeability in linerless composite tanks. The permeability of representative subscale components will be measured to validate the analytical approach. The MCT approach will then be used to design a prototype linerless composite tank. Several tanks will be fabricated and tested to verify that they meet key ABL requirements.
