Title:
Innovative Rotorcraft/Ship Environment Suppression for Enhanced DI Flight Control
Agency / Branch:
DOD / NAVY

Award Amount:
$249,996.00
Abstract:
A follow-on research effort to develop a means to improve rotorcraft handling in the Dynamic Interface (DI) environment is proposed. This work will investigate the use of both rotor state feedback and enhanced ship motion sensing systems for providing improved disturbance rejection during DI launch and recovery operations. Test data from both hardware concepts will be incorporated into simulation models for subsequent use in real-time flight simulation investigations of their utility. The resulting simulation trials will provide pre-test predictions of performance benefits that will justify a Phase III shipboard testing of these technologies by the Navy.
