DE-USE SYSTEM: AN INTERVENTION PRODUCT FOR SCHOOLS
Not Available Experiment measurement of gas turbin engine combusion instability is costly, time-consuming and it is very prone to errors. The CFD technique is evolving as a complement and sometines an alternative to experimental procedures in the generation of reliable design data for complex engineering systems. The anticipated result of the innovative research proposed by Aerospace Research Corporation is an intellignet software product that is bound to revolutionize the prediction of combustion instability in gas turbine engines by radically reducing the model solution time, effort, and cost. The calculation methods have been carefully chosen to give very accurate results in a timely manner. Furthermore, the product is very flexible because it will run on sequential as well as on a range of parallel computers. Modereately large models can be analyzed very cheaply on a cluster of personal computers (PCs), while larger models can be run on a cluster of Unix Workstations or on parallel supercomputers. The dramatic reduction in turn-around ensures much quicker and cheaper design cycles, and both the DOE's ATS and the DOD's IHPTET programs will benefit. Finally, the product will enhance the profitability of numerous commerical industries that currently use the CFD technology for competitive advantage
