Abstract:

CUBE Technology has created an extremely compact and efficient enclosed combustor dubbed a Micro-Furnace that have demonstrated an unprecedented operating range. They operate on fuels from hydrogen to alcohol to JP-8. This Micro-Furnace combustor is fast-starting and burns less than 200gm of JP-8 fuel to deliver 400cc/minute of CO2 Mosquito attractant over 12 hours. In addition, this system incorporates a small power converter driven by the Micro-Furnace to make it a miniature generator for powering the fan and light of a standard CDC trap. The vast majority of the components required to develop this small generator/CO2 source are small and commercially available. The entire system will be much smaller than the batteries currently used for powering these traps and will require only JP-8 logistics fuel that is universally available military personnel worldwide.
