Abstract:
CME's approach, results from Phase I and proven experience associated with high-pressure gas systems will facilitate the development of an efficient, lightweight, all-electrical, high-pressure Nitrogen Charging System (NCS), designed for field deploymenton the Marine Corps new AAAV. Custom components and COTS where available will be integrated into a final unit that optimizes the performance, size, weight, and cost. CME will fabricate, test and evaluate three prototype high-pressure gas boosters. Designimprovements will be incorporated in between the fabrication of these boosters. CME will test and evaluate two different commercially available nitrogen generators and two different low-pressure compressors. Following this test and evaluation period, CMEwill complete the final designs and build two prototype NCS units for delivery to the government. The government will test and evaluate these units and provide feedback to CME so design improvements can be incorporated in between the builds of the NCSunits. During the Phase II, Option, CME will build a third Prototype NCS unit for delivery to the government. The government will test and evaluate this final prototype NCS unit. CME will finalize all documentation including drawings, operational andmaintenance procedures. CME will provide maintenance support for units in the field during government testing.
