Abstract:
Current and future waveforms including those proposed under the JTRS programs contain wideband complex signals. The platforms that deploy these waveforms require high power amplifiers capable of delivering the signals generated by these waveforms without spectral re-growth caused by non-linearity. DataSoft's goal during Phase I is to expand on the proof of concept work done to-date by demonstrating GaN Quadrature LINC at UHF to L-band frequencies. Our solution combines the SWAP benefits of GaN with the linearity benefits of a LINC architecture to produce a power amplifier capable of efficiently producing very high power levels using digital wideband waveforms. Datasoft's JTRS RF design and Digital Signal Processing (DSP) expertise uniquely positions our team to design the next generation power amplifier system for the operation of both current and future complex wideband digital waveforms. Our Phase I research and design efforts will generate a power amplifier system model that is JTRS compliant and satisfies Navy system requirements.
