Abstract

Deacon Research has developed a new technology which is capable of producing a fast, switchable grating filter. Our approach will produce a switch with near 100% transmission for the receiver channel, low crosstalk, ultra low loss, and very narrow bandwidth. Make with integrated optics, the system is scaleable without additional coupling loss and inexpensive to mass produce. In Phase I, we will design and fabricate the grating, waveguide, and electrodes. The key experimental data will be the measurement of the transmission of the receiver channel and crosstalk of the other bus channels. This data will enable us to optimize the system design, demonstrate the feasibility of our switch, and plan the work to be done in Phase II.
