Abstract:
Omohundro will develop a low cost broadband radome design using a novel syntactic foam core material capable use temperatures to 900 deg F. The phase I effort will concentrate of a material vs performance matrix of various resins with its subcontractor Performance Polymers Solutions. A high temp syntactic foam will be developed from the candidate resins similar to Omohundro Cerez core material. Design will focus on A sandwich and C sandwich to optimize broadband performance, while minimizing weight and cost. A novel centrifugal casting process will optimize construction cost with high volume production. Flat panel designs will be built and tested during Phase I.
