Demonstration of the Production of 60 Hz AC Power Directly From High Frequency Alternators Using Solid State Controls
Phone: (207) 721-1044
This project seeks to demonstrate the derivation of 60 Hz AC power direct from the output of high frequency alternators through a novel use of solid state controls. The independence of output frequency engine/driver speed will be demonstrated. The ability of these alternators to handle reactive power loads at 60 Hz will be investigated. The potential for producing useful levels of MIL-STD (60 Hz 120 VAC) power will be evaluated. The feasibility of scaling high frequency alternators to higher power levels will be investigated. The project will seek to quantify the parameters needed for estimating the anticipated efficiency gains and the anticipated size, weight and cost reductions.
