Abstract:
We Propose to develop highly effective explosive warheads for use in systems for rapidly clearing obstacles in surf zones and craft landing zones. In Phase I, we will assess the benefits of application of several advanced warhead technologies and concepts, in several delivery systems already under study of development. Through analysis, we will quantify the potential payoff versus cost for each technology as it applies to the various systems. At the conclusion of the Phase I effort, one or two of the concepts will be selected, and notional designs will be proposed for development in a Phase II program of design, fabrication, testing, and analysis.
