Daptive Matched Filter for ESM/ELINT Applications

Dynetics proposes an innovative combination of analog and digital receiver techniques to produce a wide bandwidth, Adaptive Matched Filter for application in electronic support measures (ESM) and electronic intelligence (ELINT) operations. Our unique approach couples a digital acquisition system with an acousto-optic correlator to produce a self-adapting receiver. We believe that the proposed approach is innovative for the following reasons: 1) the receiver optimizes signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), 2) the receiver is applicable to both conventional radar signals as well as more exotic, spread spectrum waveforms, and 3) bandwidths up to 1GHz can be processed continuously. For ELINT, the receiver offers rapid collection and analysis capability and may significantly reduce data collection time and associated costs. For ESM, the Adaptive Matched Filer is valuable for rapidly locating and classifying those emitters not processed by conventional radar warning receivers (RWRs). For commercial applications, initial analysis to date shows that this technology is applicable to satellite synchronization systems. During Phase I, additional commercialization efforts will further focus on technology.
