Abstract

Eikos LLC will modify and enhance the chemistry of the NRL developed phthalonitrile resin to meet the 700F TOS requirements of high temperature RTM and RFI aerospace composites. Eikos is intimately familiar with the chemistry of the phthalonitrile resin because of our efforts to scale the production of the current bases resin from the laboratory to the pilot plant. Eikos has teamed with McConnell Douglas to evaluate three phthalonitrile based resins against the MDC proprietary stitching technology, the state-of-the-art in Damage Tolerance Improvement. Combining the TOS enhanced phthalonitrile with the MDC stitching technology will provide the most advanced high performance aerospace composites system available for advanced aircraft.
