Abstract:
An innovative ariblast-based single-lip fuel injector with piloted fuel for advanced military gas turbine combustors is proposed for development in this SBIR. The proposed innovative fuel injector design concept will significantly improve the mixing performance of fuel and air in the vicinity of the fuel injector, thus resulting in substantially improved fuel/air mixture distribution, homogenities, uniformity and significantly lower NOx production. The proposed design concept will also reduce the mixing length required to achieve well-mixed fuel and air prior to burning and consequently shortening the mixture residence time, which will decrease combustor length and consequently engine's weight.
