"A simplified optical design is presented for a dual visible/thermal IR camerasystem that can be cost effective through modularity. This optical designhas additional performance benefits supporting accurate co-registration ofboth modalities and simplifying end-user operation of the camera system. A low-cost visible/thermal IR camera system combines complementary technologiesthat can be useful for automatic target recognition, identification friend or foe,search and rescue, and firefighting"
