Abstract:
STUDIES WILL BE DIRECTED TOWARD THE FEASIBILITY OF PROVIDING A MULTILINE LASER REJECTION PLASTIC FILTER. A HYBRID SYSTEM COMPOSED OF A LASER ABSORBING MATERIAL (DYE) EMBEDED IN PLASTIC AND A MULTILAYER REFLECTION REJECTION COATING DEPOSITED ON THE PLASTIC SURFACE CAN PROVIDE THE REJECTION MECHANISM FOR LASER EMISSIONS. HOST PLASTIC MATERIALS SUCH AS ACRYLIC, CR-39 AND POLYCARBONATE ARE CANDIDATE MATERIALS FOR THIS INVESTIGATION. TO ENHANCE ADHESION AND REDUCE STRESS PROPERTIES OF THE MULTILAYER COATING, AN ION ASSISTED PLASMA TECHNIQUE WILL BE STUDIED AS PART OF THE COATING EVAPORATION PROCESS. THIN FILM COMPUTER DESIGN OPTIMIZATION TECHNIQUES WILL BE EMPLOYED TO YIELD OPTIMAL SPECTRAL PROPERTIES FOR THE ABSORPTION/REFLECTION COMPOSITE.
