Abstract:

The goal of this Phase II program is to develop an efficient and compact diode-pumped laser amplifier module that can be used in a chirped-pulsed amplifier (CPA) system to achieve scaling of energy and power of an Ultra-Short Pulse laser (USP) to levels commensurate with military applications. In Phase I, Fibertek demonstrated the feasibility of a novel rod gain module with high amplification efficiency and good beam quality over a wide range of operational pulse rates. In Phase II, Fibertek will develop a prototype gain module for integration into a functional USP laser system for proof-of-concept evaluation.
