Abstract:
This proposed research combines Frontier Technology, Inc.'s AFSPC and decision aide experience along with Synergy's insight and knowledge of the Virtual Space Logistics Readiness Center (VSLRC) to develop and demonstrate a decision support system that predicts ground support failures before they occur and their operational impact. The existing VSLRC, an interactive system that increases support to the space systems surface-fighter by providing access to near real-time system operational and equipment status and linking logistics data to its impact on operational readiness, will be the demonstration platform. The FTI/Synergy Team will model the reliability of system components and provide a probability of system failure based on system components and their relationship to the function of the system as well as the impact to the overall mission. The Phase I research effort will determine the feasibility of developing the algorithms into a prototype capability and then integrate PC-based reliability evaluations and decision support tools into a support environment with which analysts can evaluate operational readiness of the system(s). This effort will provide for the space community with real-time access to ground-support space systems' health and operational status data which will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of sustainment and logistic activities.
