Award Amount:
$99,959.00
Abstract:
Sensors will be developed wherein the electroadsorpton of the target analyte will be monitored by measuring the surface conductivity of the high-surface-area nanoparticles oxide composite sensor. Sensitivity and response time are modulated electrically to shift surface electron states into or out of adsorbent/oxide overlap orbitals. The system will be optimized to measure trace levels of sulfur species such as dibenzothiophene (DBT) in JP-8 vapors to signal a potential threat to the functioning of desulfurization systems used in solid oxide fuel cells.
