Abstract:
Signal direction of arrival (DOA) estimation is a classical problem that exists in a wide range of military and civilian applications. There are many classical high-resolution DOA estimation algorithms that can be used to estimate the DOAs of ideal narrowband sources with known center frequencies. However, in many COMINT applications, we may not know key parameters (bandwidths, center frequencies, etc.) of the sources of interest. Therefore, in such cases the existing classical DOA estimation algorithms may not work well. In this proposal, GIRD Systems proposes to develop an innovative DOA estimation algorithm that is ideally suited for signals of unknown bandwidths and center frequencies. GIRD Systems will also investigate computationally efficient methods for digital processing of the proposed DOA algorithm to facilitate the final implementation and demonstration during Phase II.
