Abstract:
Green Eyes, LLC will demonstrate the feasibility of a Coastal Long-term Automated Self-calibration Profiler (CLASP) system capable of operating autonomously for one year without servicing. CLASP will be configured to incorporate wireless two-way communications for automated data dissemination and remote control. Two major innovations are required to develop such a system. 1. Automated bio-fouling control and sensor cleaning, and 2. Automated multi-sensor and multi-instrument calibration To meet these objectives, we will construct a computer controlled modular system based on an automated gas and liquid handling manifold with closed loop circuits for bio-fouling control and cleaning and open loop circuits for calibration and sampling. A proportioning pump for the autonomous creation of working concentration standards will also be provided. The initial system will collect data on Temperature, Salinity, pH, Dissolved Oxygen, and Chlorophyll, but its design will allow for expansion.
