Abstract:
The overall goal of this project is to develop the fast RF waveform library reader for Digital-RF correlator-based receivers. With proper construction of an RF waveform template, an RF cross-correlator can perform a variety of functions, such as demodulation, despreading, dehopping, and decoding. Using a periodic waveform as a template, it performs the function of a digital channelizer for extraction of sub-bands with programmable band location and bandwidth from a wide received RF band. Instead of a single frequency template, if one uses a series of frequencies changing in a pre-determined time sequence, the digital-RF correlator acts as a direct dehopping receiver. In the proposed phase II project, we will develop and demonstrate a hybrid memory system consisting of COTS memory/pattern generator and superconductor cache memory. The system will address difficult issues of synchronous loading of multi-bit waveform templates into a multi-bit Digital-RF cross-correlator. In Phase II Option, we will integrate this hybrid memory subsystem with a multi-bit digital mixer developed under concurrent project.
