Abstract:
This SBIR Phase II project will develop a multi-band, multi-channel digital correlation-based RF receiver, with particular application to spectrum monitoring and signal identification for Navy Signals Intelligence applications. This is a joint effort of HYPRES, Inc. and Research Associates of Syracuse (RAS). HYPRES has been developing a new broadband digital-RF receiver front-end technology, funded in part by DoD, based around ultrafast superconducting analog-to-digital converters and digital correlation processors, operating at 20 GHz and above. RAS has been developing complementary technology focusing on back-end custom software and hardware for military RF signals. During the 24-month Phase II base project, front-end and back-end components for a multi-band all-digital spectrometer/receiver will be designed and developed. The integrated spectrometer/receiver encompasses and integrates all desired functions: (1) broadband spectrum monitor with a goal of 0-18 GHz (Stare), (2) multi-band digital-RF channelizing receiver (Zoom), and (3) precision signal measurement hardware and software. By the end of the succeeding 6-month Phase II option, these components will be integrated and the complete prototype system demonstrated to Navy customers.
