Workscope Optimization for Engine Repair and Overhaul

Impact Technologies, in cooperation with Standard Aero and Northrop Grumman, will lead an effort to develop a web-based software tool capable of optimizing the maintenance repair and overhaul work scopes associated with gas turbine engines that yield realistic cost estimates on a per engine flying hour basis, including post-maintenance performance metrics and expected time on wing predictions. The capability provided by this application will support maintenance cost reduction, time on wing extension and engine performance tracking. Building from the accomplishments achieved during Phase I, the proposed Phase II program will integrate this tool as required with established AF databases, estimate cost and time on wing for life limit scenarios, identify module matching opportunities and incorporate costs associated with multi-level maintenance. Also integral to the Phase II effort will be development of the capability to assess the validity of the cost and time on wing predictions and to view RCM based fleet health metrics such as average Time on Wing and Cost per Engine Flying Hour. At the completion of the Phase II effort, an expandable Workscope Optimization for Engine Repair and Overhaul application that can be integrated into the USAF's current RCM calculator and supports easy updating will be delivered to the USAF with developed models for the TF39, T56, F100 and F110 engines.
