Title:
JSF Fleet Manager: an Automated Reasoner for Aircraft Operational Availability Decision Support
Agency / Branch:
DOD / NAVY
Contract:
N68335-07-C-0201
Award Amount:
$449,999.00
Abstract:
Impact Technologies, LLC proposes to further develop the use of an automated reasoner to provide decision support for fleet management of military aircraft. The proposed tool will consist of four tightly integrated components: data mining, availability assessment and maintenance optimization, mission planning, and interactive data visualization. The data mining module will operate on the operational and maintenance data from potentially different data sources, such as DECKPLATE, in different formats. Data integrity will be checked and data problems will be addressed when possible and as needed. Then different data mining techniques will be applied to extract knowledge from the data. Knowledge gained from different techniques and/or coming from different databases will then be fused together to provide an overall view of the status of the fleet. The development will also include an automated reasoner that will use the data to determine current aircraft availability across the fleet and optimize maintenance actions to maximize availability. A mission planning module will also use upcoming mission profile and requirements to determine optimal asset allocation that will ensure high mission reliability as well as any needs for maintenance schedule modifications and to estimate maintenance needs after mission completion. The user will interact with the software tool through an interactive data visualization module that would make it possible to investigate the reasoning process to any desired level of detail up to the raw data.
