Abstract:
In Phase II of this SBIR program, innovative, high-power, low-cost, small-volume and weight W-band transmitters will be built and demonstrated based on the feasibility and paper design studies of the Phase I effort. The objective is to develop a 50-watt peak output-power, chirped W-Band pulsed-transmitter that can produce chirped-pulses of several hundred nanoseconds at a PRF of several hundred kilohertz. Additional requirements include the transmitter being suitable for missile applications where the cost must be kept at a minimum and small-volume and weight are required to allow the transmitter to be mounted on a gimble platform. For the combination of high-performance, volume-manufacturability, low-cost, small-volume and weight, InnoSys proposed the solid state vacuum device (SSVDTM) approach and the paper design of a W-band SSVD that should fulfill the requirements and was performed in the Phase I of this SBIR program. SSVD technology is one of the very few if not the only solution for the requirements for this SBIR program. We have high confidence in a successful demonstration of a high power W-band transmitter in the Phase II of this SBIR program.
