Abstract

Recent advances in intelligent agent technology, wide-area distributed system architectures and multi-user syntehetic environments have created a whole new opportunity for delivery of adaptive training within synthetic environments. The Phase I effort is concerned with: (1) evaluating agent technologies and architectures from a pedagogical perspective; (2) creating environment; and (3) developing a suitable approach and implementation plan for creating a prototype system in Phase II. We will leverage our work in a process/plan knowledge representation and the lessons learned in integrating agent architectures and intelligent tutoring systems to create an adaptive training system for use within synthetic environments.
