Abstract:
Mezzo Technologies designs and fabricates micro channel heat exchangers that offer high performance in non phase change applications (gas-gas, liquid-liquid, and gas-liqid). The potential exists or Mezzo's heat exchangers to also provide excellent performance in applications involving phase change (condensers and evaporators). Mezzo proposes a very compact design for the Phase I effort that can serve as the generic platform for an extensive Phase II test program to produce an optimal condenser design. The Phase I effort will focus on modeling, fabricating and testing a condenser. The combination of model prediction and test results will serve as the starting point for the extensive Phase II design effort. Mezzo's design provides the following advantages: 1. Advantages of micro scale passages result in compact, low weight heat exchanger 2. Flexibility in terms of plumbing (i. e. the high pressure refrigerant can be plumbed to allow flow throuh either set of passages). 3. Mezzo's manufacture approach is low cost.
