Abstract:
To address the Sensor-Based Monitoring and Intervention for Gravity-Induced Loss of Consciousness project, the JXT Team will develop the Loss of Consciousness Sensor Technology and Alerting/Recovery System (LOCSTARS). Within LOCSTARS, we will: (1) define requirements and conduct a comprehensive review of existing neurophysiologic sensor technologies and their suitability for detecting ALOC and GLOC; (2) conduct a feasibility study on the integration of the sensor technologies into the flight helmet; (3) develop a proposed plan for an integrated flight helmet suite; (4) establish a test and evaluation plan; and (5) assess the feasibility, usability, and commercial potential of the LOCSTARS product. A concept will be developed for integrating the sensor suite, the flight helmet, the acceleration/performance model, and the aircraft warning/autorecovery system.
