Generating Labeled Voxelizations for Numerical Simulation

The goal of the proposed research is to create software applications for segmenting medical images; the segmented images are then voxelized for use in the numerical simulation of directed energy on biological systems. In Phase I we identified segmentation algorithms to be used for different biological structures, as well as tools for editing, interacting with and displaying results. In the Phase II project, we will create applications based on a workflow paradigm, which coordinates the segmentation and editing tasks in order to manage the interface to the user. This technology will be incorporated into our VolView image analysis system, and will provide several commercial opportunities including use in clinical trial image processing.
