Abstract:
An ASTROS compatible computational strategy for evaluating the aeroelastic response, buckling and integrity of aircraft structures made of advanced laminated composite materials is proposed. The proposed computational strategy will be global/local in nature and as such will include the capability to analyze the global stress, vibration, buckling and aeroelastic response of aircraft structures made of advanced engineered materials as well as the localized failure modes which are peculiar to these types of materials. The Phase I effort will demonstrate the computational strategy and investigate its implementation within the ASTROS framework.
