Abstract:
The U.S. Navy aims to develop 21st century teaching aids by exploiting the emerging new developments in automated instructional systems, hypermedia, and pedagogical research. In this Phase I we propose to develop a desktop based prototype Intelligent Computer Based Training environment, integrating advanced state-of-the-art concepts in the Intelligent Tutoring System area, Al techniques, and well founded and commercializable Computer Based Training technology. The proposed effort builds on a prior effort we have completed for the Navy. The ICBT approach renders our system powerful in operation both for the teacher as well as the student, modular in structure, upgradable, especially with respect to the newer multimedia tools and based on an inexpensive desktop based hardware.
