SOFTWARE INTERVENTION FOR ADVANCED SYNTAX DEVELOPMENT
Not Available Despite the increasing availability of presentation media like image, voice, animation and video, text remains the most natural and popular means of communications in the DoD workplace. Vast amounts of available on-line/electronic text have created a need for better automatic extraction and cognitively-oriented presentation of textual information to humans. Recent experimentation with advanced information-processing algorithms for pattern extraction and correlation has found promising new capabilities in information extraction systems. The objective of this text summarization and visualization project is to (i) expand on the current statistical methods of information extraction through the application of machine learning techniques and (ii) apply advanced 3D visualization techniques to human-computer interfacing. Learning techniques can significantly improve information extraction systems because they provide enhanced capabilities for prediction and generalization. They can allow systems to adapt and track the needs of multiple users, each changing over time. Transfer of textual information to the visualization space enhances the user's capabilities to see, search, and explore documents and their summaries as never before. The proposed project will build on standards-based commercial technologies.
