Abstract:
This SBIR project research will lead to development of revolutionary miniature application specific modules based on the exciting Advanced Instrument Controller (AIC) technology being developed for the Joint Strike Fighter prognostics and health management team. This project will perform research and prototype development leading to a revolutionary new breed of ultra-reliable, multi-purpose, reconfigurable micro-electronic modules. The technology will be based on government off the shelf (GOTS) space rated advanced instrument controller technology that accurately measures, computes, and manages. The half ounce, low power modules will combine the functionality of several devices weighing several kilograms. The devices will have an IEEE standard data interface tosend navigation information via a message passing interface. The modules will combine the AIC with commercial off the shelf (COTS) micro-machined electro-mechanical sensors and ancillary electronics such as amplifiers and signal conditioners. In Phase I, we will perform research to identify the best choice for using the modules in space missions.
