Abstract:
The ONR Phase I STTR solicitation topic is Autonomous Distributed Systems. The core technical objective specified under the solicitation topic is to develop and demonstrate innovative hardware and software to enable advanced networked, autonomous, distributed systems of sensors for surveillance and measurement of the oceanic littoral environment. As a Navy STTR Project, we are transitioning new probabilistic modeling tools from the University of New Mexico, including an innovative and powerfulmodeling language based on the Stochastic Lambda Calculus. Our work in Phase I of the STTR focused on exploring the calculus as a probabilistic measure space basis for a light-weight distributed application to meet the stated objective. Our work in PhaseII under this STTR focuses on development of innovative software for distributed sensor fusion using the latest technologies in probabilistic modeling. The algorithms developed in this Phase II effort will find a role in determining normal operating conditions and then classifying, identifying, and understanding abnormal conditions. This will be particularly true for assessing the meaning of changes of signals flowing from electronic systems and machinery.
