Abstract:
A high throughput wireless link is needed by the Air Force Research laboratory in order to realize immersive training simulations with full user mobility. MaXentric is implementing a 60 GHz communication link to provide the high throughput that the Air Force is seeking. Phase I work addressed the design of key segments in the communication link, which included selection of a network backbone, a suitable RF waveform, a throughput management strategy, and a link budget assessment. The feasibility of the ViFi architecture for overcoming the major challenge of shadowing was also demonstrated through simulation. As part of Phase II work, MaXentric will provide the realization of a ViFi network with a prototype that covers the end-to-end link. This ViFi deployment will incorporate a significant level of component integration, and support multiple users. The technical performance of this deployment will be thoroughly evaluated for further optimization to meet the Air Force's needs.
