Abstract:
SSpace Situational Awareness (SSA) is a growing area of concern for the Air Force. Space superiority cannot be assumed, as witnessed by recent events in which China is suspected of attempts to jam U.S. reconnaissance satellites. The Situational Awareness and Response System (SARS) program strives to create a framework that provides SSA and acts on that information to mitigate satellite damage and maintain mission objectives. In a Phase I SARS effort, Ensembles of Decision Trees were employed to enhance L0 Data Fusion performance on satellite telemetry. In Phase II, this system will be refined and packaged for delivery, which will provide the SARS program with both a complementary L0 DF module and a concrete demonstration of plug-and-play modularity for the JDL Data Fusion architecture. The deliverable Data Fusion module will be complemented by the additional delivery of a Resource Management module, thereby enabling a closed-loop DF/RM system to be demonstrated and also providing a vehicle for the SARS program to demonstrate and evaluate RM capabilities which are underdeveloped at this time with respect to more mature Data Fusion technology. With an eye toward commercial relationships, MAC will cultivate existing contacts with Spectrum Astro, GMV Space Systems and Space-X.
