Elimination of Pulse Shortening in High Power Microwave Tubes
Phone: (904) 729-4494
The goal of the proposed program is to determine the most important sources of pulse shortening in high-power microwave (HPM) sources, to develop techniques to overcome these pulse shortening problems, and to develop a detailed design and evaluation of a 2 - kJ/pulse HPM source and pulsed-power driver that can be built and tested during Phase II. The source will have a pulse duration of 1 to 2 microseconds. MRC has identified a number of innovative techniques that can be applied to overcome the pulse shortening problems that have been identified in HPM sources. To implement these techniques and facilitate the commercialization of sources based on this technology, MRC is collaborating with major industrial companies as well as researchers at various government laboratories involved in HPM research.
