Abstract:
To counter advanced threats, the Navy is designing and retrofitting submarines with improved sensors, weapons, and communications systems. Such advancements place stress on submarine system designers and maintainers because of the increase in ber system complexity. Modus Operandi proposes an innovative semantic service-oriented framework to represent and integrate the design artifacts of a combat SOSA (System of Systems Architecture). With the Wave-SOS (Wave System of Systems) technology, the Navy can greatly increase the understanding of SOS architectures and their components, reducing total life cycle costs and improving understanding and collaboration.
