Award Amount:
$599,690.00
Abstract:
This Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase II study deals with the development of a noise-cancellation technique that employs a reference sensor to reduce geomagnetic noise at an airborne MAD sensor. The Geomagnetic Reference Sensor System (GRSS) will comprise an expendable buoy with a total-field magnetometer that will be deployed by the ASW aircraft immediately prior to the localization phase of the mission. In Phase II, a GRSS laboratory breadboard will be fabricated based on the Phase I and Option test results. All of the ancillary sensors will be integrated into the system. The motion noise floor specified in the N08-009 Topic description will be demonstrated in a test environment. The coherent noise reduction of the geomagnetic noise will be demonstrated using the GRSS in at least one deep-water field test. The development of sensors that may be suitable for this application will be monitored throughout the course of the program.
