Develop the electronics and controls for a low-distortion, quiet, and reliable output three-phase 0 to 20 kiloHertz power converter with current 0 to 50 kiloAmperes. The output frequency and current must be able to vary from minimum to maximum within a 300 millisecond time period. NDI offers the development of a standard, modular active power building block(MAPBB) consisting of an IGBT based pole so designed that the MAPBB's could be connected in series to achieve the desired voltages and/or in parallel to achieve the required currents. A field Oriented Vector control system is proposed that would precisely control the output current of the Inverter and if desired, could be employed to control the speed of the linear synchronous motor.
